Currently, the only inhabitants on Mars are robots. Every time we explore a new part of our solar system, whether it be to Europa to search for life, or to some asteroid to mine it for its resources, we will be sending a robot first. It's extremely important to know every intricate detail, especially when you're 33,926,867.096 miles from home.

For less than the price of an X-Box or PlayStation, you can buy a kit that will teach you valuable electrical and software engineering skills that will benefit you in the emerging tech market which is continuously automating manual-labor jobs.

Our company aims to bridge the gap between the workforce that will be replaced by automation, and the lack of technical talent that companies will face due to this factor with professional bootcamps/curriculum and DIY tech projects, like our current MVP, the "STEM-X Autonomous Rover Kit".

Don't get left behind

We will be using the Arduino UNO R3 to take readings from the HC-SR04 ultrasonic-distance sensors, and then sending information through USB serial communication to the Raspberry-Pi for it to make a decision on how to maneuver.

You might be wondering why we didn't just use the Raspberry-Pi to take the sensor readings from the HC-SR04's directly. That's because the Raspberry-Pi is not a micro-controller, it's a Single Board Computer(SBC); therefore, it is unable to read the echos in "real-time", hence having to use a "while-loop" to continuously listen for the "echo", creating the possibility of completely missing it in some cases and causing the "while-loop" to go on forever. Using a micro-controller like an Arduino UNO R3 to take the readings in "real-time" with functions like pulseIn(echo_pin_number, HIGH) and then sending those sensor readings via USB serial communication to the Raspberry-Pi is the more efficient method we will be exploring.
